Happy Hour Al Fresco

Spritz season is here! This bubbly, bittersweet aperitif is our go-to for warm spring weather, and calls to mind lounging on the Riviera and dining al fresco. The term al fresco comes from the Italian word for fresh, and essentially means dining outdoors in fresh air. And when the weather is this nice, who wants to stay cooped up inside? Zero-proof cocktails make al fresco dining easy because they can be enjoyed anywhere. You can take them from the patio to the park, or wherever else is calling you. Here are a few tips to inspire your al fresco cocktail hour this spring.

Plan a picnic

Take advantage of this beautiful weather with a trip to the park! You can pack your favorite ready-to-drink options, or mix up some zero-proof cocktails to go while you enjoy the fresh air. There’s also the added bonus of not having to worry about open container laws, so you can sip your drinks literally anywhere, whether you’re on the go or relaxing on your picnic blanket!

Create an outdoor oasis

You don’t need to go far from home to enjoy al fresco dining. In fact, you can create a perfect spot for it in your very own backyard (or your porch, driveway, stoop, etc.) The actual location is less important than the vibe you cultivate. Mix and match your glassware with a pitcher full of your favorite seasonal mocktail. Then spruce up your dining area with whatever you have on hand – table linens, flowers, and candles are all easy ways to add to your al fresco ambiance!

Throw a garden party

We’ve talked before about how much we love taking inspiration from spring plants for our cocktail recipes. Take that idea one step further by planning a garden party with drinks featuring plants you’ve grown yourself! Whether you’re incorporating fresh herbs, fruit, or even edible flowers, show off your creative mixology skills AND your green thumb all at once.
