Raising The Bar With Amanda & Joseph

Continuing our Q&A series, we are excited to be chatting with Siponey, a brand we love collaborating with and are endlessly inspired by. We sat down with Amanda and Joseph, the founders, to talk about their journey, their take on mindful drinking, and what they have built. Let’s get into it.

With Amanda & Joseph

What inspired you to start Siponey, and how has the brand evolved since its launch?

We wanted to prove that cocktails could taste amazing, be made responsibly, and stand for something bigger. What began as an idea in our kitchen has grown into a beloved and award-winning two-time B-Corp certified brand redefining mindful drinking.

How do you approach creating drinks that balance flavor, wellness, and fun?

We lead with real ingredients and intention. Every recipe starts with certified organic wildflower honey, layered with botanicals and fruit that create balance — never artificial or so-called “natural flavors”, always vibrant and fun and real ingredients you can recognize.

Wildflower honey is central to Siponey’s blends. What made you choose it, and what makes it special?

Certified organic wildflower honey that is responsibly sourced is the cornerstone of every Siponey product — it’s why we’re called “Siponey.” It supports pollinators, connects us to nature, and delivers natural complexity no lab-made flavor can match.

It’s so inspiring to see Siponey among certified B Corps. What did that milestone mean to you?

It validated our belief that business can be a force for good. Becoming a B Corp meant building accountability into every decision — from sourcing to packaging to community giving.

How does Siponey reflect your personal values and approach to sustainability

Sustainability isn’t an afterthought — it’s the foundation. Every can we produce supports ethical sourcing, pollinator protection, and environmental education and stewardship.

What does mindful drinking mean to you, and how do you hope Siponey fits into that lifestyle?

Mindful drinking means enjoying what’s in your glass while knowing it aligns with your values. Siponey makes that easy — bold flavor, real ingredients, and purpose in every sip. A mindful and inclusive experience :-)

How do you hope people feel when they open a can of Siponey?

Joyful, curious, and connected — like they’re part of something that tastes great and does good, while still being able to partake in the fun, without sacrifice.

What advice would you give someone exploring mindful or non-alc cocktails for the first time?

Start with curiosity. You don’t need to sacrifice fun or flavor — Siponey proves that mindful choices can be the most exciting ones.

With Amanda

You’ve built such a dynamic career in the cocktail and spirits world. What first drew you to this industry, and what keeps you inspired today?

I was drawn to storytelling through flavor and agriculture and the cultural experience of community through beverages. The energy of hospitality, creativity, and connection still inspires me — especially now that I can use it to create positive impact — this is my entire “why” for making Siponey.

How did your early experiences working in cocktail institutions shape your approach to creating Siponey?

Building iconic, and now legacy brands,  taught me what makes a product timeless: authenticity, consistency and connection to consumers. In the case of Siponey, this connection is fueled by genuine purpose thus bringing those lessons into a new, more conscious era.

You’ve built a career around purpose as much as product. How do you bring environmental and social impact into the DNA of Siponey?

Impact is baked into everything we do — from using sustainable ingredients to working with nonprofits from underrepresented communities. Profit and purpose are inseparable to me, often to a fault. I’m disappointed to say that “doing the right thing” comes with a cost in capitalistic society. I’m not willing to settle and will always advocate for underdogs.

One of the many things we admire about you is how you champion equity and opportunity in the beverage world. How does that mindset influence the way you lead and build community?

Equity starts with visibility. I lead by making space for others, by ensuring our company, team, and partners reflect the diversity of the world we serve.

As someone who’s broken barriers in the industry, what advice would you give to others entering the space?

Have values and stand by them. The industry is changing, and authenticity is the new currency. Stop playing it small — do the right thing, even when it’s uncomfortable or inconvenient. The shortcut version of success doesn’t last but integrity does. Be bold enough to lead with what’s real and from your heart to serve communities with purpose, love and care.

What’s one lesson or moment that has stayed with you throughout your journey — something that continues to guide your decisions?

Know your audience and do the right thing. The rest will fall into place.

Looking ahead, what do you hope Siponey represents in the future of the beverage industry?

A blueprint for how brands can grow with conscience — proving that creativity, transparency and sustainability can lead, not follow.

With Joseph

You have such a fascinating background in horticultural science and environmental entrepreneurship. How did that lead you to co-founding Siponey?

My work has always centered around ecosystems. Siponey was a natural extension and a way to bring environmental responsibility to something as cultural as beverage.

Siponey has such a strong environmental ethos. What were some of the first decisions you and Amanda made to ensure sustainability was built in from the start?

From day one, we committed to B-Corp standards, ethical sourcing, and recyclable materials. Every operational choice was filtered through sustainability.

Wildflower honey is at the heart of Siponey’s flavor and identity. Can you talk more about the importance of this ingredient and what it means to what you built?

Honey is nature’s original sweetener — nutrient-rich, sustainable, and symbolic of balance. Supporting pollinators with responsibly sourced honey connects our brand directly to environmental action and ties together our purpose both inside and outside of the can.

What’s been the biggest challenge and reward in bringing Siponey to life?

Balancing creativity with operations and logistics. The reward has been seeing people light up when they taste Siponey and realize a better beverage is possible!

The photo of you covered in honey on the Siponey site is unforgettable. How in the world did you stage that, and what story were you hoping to tell through it?

That shoot was a celebration of authenticity. The honey symbolizes immersion, literally being one with our product and our purpose. It was also just really cool to end the day bathing in the nectar of the gods! We had used that honey A LOT throughout the day for the shoot, very mindfully and consciously so we took the opportunity to make a cool photo at the very end, instead of just letting it go to waste.

How do you see the beverage industry evolving when it comes to sustainability and ingredient transparency?

Transparency is the future. Consumers want to know what’s in their drinks and where it came from. That shift will define the next decade.

What does “elevating the ritual” of drinking mean to you personally?

It means creating moments of intention, whether with or without alcohol, that connect people to nature, flavor, and each other. I also note that it should be an inclusive experience for all, which is why our NA cocktails work alone beautifully or as a mixer for those who do imbibe.

Looking forward, what do you hope people take away from every can they open?

That they’re part of something bigger, a movement toward better choices for themselves and for our planet.

Siponey shows how creativity, transparency, and sustainability can shape the beverage world for the better. Here is to more intention, more impact, and more seriously delicious ways to enjoy a good bevvie. Cheers to that.
